Donate/SubscribeSUPPORT THE AECIf you would like to support our work, there are several ways you can help: 1. By becoming a member, which will entitle you to attend the meetings and functions held two or three times each year for members; and to receive our Newsletter, which we will send to you several times each year. (See membership form at Donate/Subscribe). 2. By becoming a donor and supporting; a) one or more primary scholarships of $250 each, awarded to Aboriginal students nominated by each of the Regions of the NSW Department of Education & Training. b) A secondary scholarship of one, two or 3 years for $300 p.a, awarded to Aboriginal students in years 8, 9 & 10 at 12 Secondary Schools. c) A tertiary award of $5000 p.a. for the duration of the degree presented to students selected from applicants studying at NSW Universities. The degree will be linked to the donor’s industry or profession helping to create relationships between the recipient and donor. We are hoping to establish 12 such scholarships with at least three coming from the NSW Department of Education and Training in support of teaching degrees. We would like to see Medical, Engineering, Health and Finance also represented. The AEC is budgetting in 2008 for 120 Primary, 160 Secondary and 12 Tertiary scholarships which, with applications from schools and community groups for financial support in funding their projects, will cost approximately $250,000. We urgently need your financial support to make this programme possible; and look foward to your generous consideration of this appeal. Donations are tax deductible; and your donation goes in full to the student. 3. By making yourself available at the next Annual General Meeting (the next falls in March 2008) to become a member of our Executive Committee. This committee meets monthly, and you will be have the opportunity to participate in decisions, and, if you wish, to serve on one of our sub-committees. We hope you will take this opportunity to help provide equality of educational opportunities for our Indigenous students at all levels. The AEC is a registered Charity which relies on financial support from the public for the continuation of its valuable work. |
